As this awesome time of year is upon us; the ימי הדיו, everyone is searching for Zechusim. How can one secure a spot for himself in the ספר החיים. Klal Yisroel as a whole; each community and every יחיד will stand for a דין, מי יחיה ומי ימות.
However, at this time we are not the only ones searching. Our אב הרחמן is also searching, looking around; “Where can I find Zechusim to give My children חיים?” And as Hashem looks down at this world, a beautiful light shines out. The light of thousands and thousands of Hashem’s precious children; sitting immersed in the Torah Hakedosha and Avodas Hashem.
Total devotion.
Willing to sacrifice everything to bring glory and honor to Hashem and His Torah.
When Hashem sees that sight, He need not look any further, Hashem has found the Zechus with which to hold up Klal Yisroel. Hashem has found these Pillars of Torah, Avoda, and Gemilus Chasadim. But what is Klal Yisroel’s connection with them? Does Klal Yisroel look out for these Generals whose Avoda holds up the world?
Sukkos is around the corner, and Chazal refer to it as זמן שמחתינו, the time of Happiness, when Hashem כביכול comes down to spend time and enjoy His children. But when Hashem arrives at the homes of many of these “Amudei Oilam” what will Hashem find?
Kupas Yom Tov was founded 2 and a half years ago with the goal of significantly easing the financial burden that many yungerleit in Lakewood face when covering the extra Yom Tov necessities. These yungerleit choose to live their lives simply and make do with less, with the singular goal of growing in Torah and Avodas Hashem. Their neshai chayil may work long hours so their husbands can continue holding up the world. These families ‘make it’ financially throughout the year, month to month, but when Yom Tov expenses pile up they simply can’t do it.
Two and a half years ago right before Pesach tragedy struck with the sudden petira of one BMG’s most chashuve yungerleit R’ Shlomo Zalmen Rosengarten Ztl, and Hayeled Eli Raitzik a”h. This double heartbreak gave way to an awakening of the true feeling of love and caring we all have for each other. Thus as a zechus for these two special neshamos, Kupas Yom Tov was established to bring a נחמה to their families and the community.
Now there is an address, an address for these yungerleit to turn to, to help them feel the joy of Yom Tov without the crushing financial pressure. But it is also an address for Klal Yisroel, to partner and support these pillars of Klal Yisroel, to make sure these elite generals, can focus undisturbed on their Avoda and continue holding up all of Klal Yisroel. It’s also a chance to show them and Hashem how much we are מחשיב them, and will do everything we can to support them. Now when Hashem looks down before יום כיפור, and Hashem looks around while He’s with us on Sukos, He will smile and say “How Lucky I am to have children who love me and My Torah and show such honor and respect to My elite generals”
Let us seize the opportunity to show our support, to pay tribute to these silent heroes and may we be זוכה to the ברכה of “עץ חיים היא למחזיקים בה ותומחיה מאושר”, because after all who is really supporting who?!
